Overview

The Diploma in Innovation (C20060) is exclusive to UTS and is designed to be taken concurrently with almost any undergraduate degree program at UTS. It teaches innovation, supports personal transformation and provides the practical skills and professional networks needed to support the change makers, innovators, inventors and inventions of the future.

All UTS undergraduate students (with the exception of students concurrently enrolled in the Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation) can enrol in the Diploma in Innovation upon admission in their chosen undergraduate degree. It is a complete course program that runs in parallel to any undergraduate degree or as further learning.

This program includes award-winning international industry best practices and guests to support the future innovators, founders and employees of our increasingly networked and globalised world. Apply today at https://dipinn.uts.edu.au.

Students come out of the Diploma in Innovation with the practical and professional skills to create and support sectoral and societal transformation. Graduates creatively integrate ideas across professions and are inventors of the future. The Diploma offers a supportive environment for students to learn new skills, methods and perspectives, which complement their core degree, helping them stand out from the crowd with their ability for creative approaches to complex problems.

Course aims

From the first day, students gain practical experience and authenticity by working with world-class researchers and industry partners on cutting edge challenges. Curiosity is encouraged and students are inspired to learn innovation by doing innovation, with colleagues and partners who share their passions. Students who wish to pursue a passion project (like a startup, invention, or social change initiative) are afforded unique opportunities to progress their projects as part of their coursework, hitting the ground running with a strong support network before they graduate.

Career options

Career paths include Chief Product Officer (CPO), Creative Producer, Transformation designer, Product designer, Industrial Designer and Innovator, Innovation and digital solutions analyst, Content and design thinking coordinator, Foresight and innovation analyst, Experience design consultant – UX (user experience), Researcher and designer, Chief Innovation Officer (CIO).

Graduates hold roles in the following positions: Business Development (IoT), Chief Product Officer, Creative Producer, Founder, Industrial Designer and Innovator, Innovation and Invention Specialist, Management Consultant, Owner and Self-employed.
